Called the rock-a-billy cowboy crooner. Born San Francisco, raised in Marin, then Los Angeles, Nashville, fifteen years at Rawhide in Arizona. Performing as Steven Kent since 2012 (fourteen years). Before that: Steve Barker / Steven Kent Barker, including an early-1980s singer-songwriter deal with Elektra Records (Warner Music Group) — tracks cut, label chapter ended, the songs stayed. Traditional country, western, rock and roll, gospel — a baritone built for Cash, King, and original songs.
First singer-songwriter single “Would He Believe” was written in 2002 after the 25th anniversary Candlelight Vigil, when he returned to his room. It hit #1 on Netherlands country radio in August and September 2012. He produced Dream & Believe, and is writer and publisher (BMI, Steven Kent Music) of the originals. Cash & King is a one-of-a-kind celebration: the Man in Black opens; Elvis remains the King of Rock and Roll — fifty years later. 180 minutes, two sets. Steven shares his personal stories of meeting them both.

Early ’80s
Elektra Records
Signed singer-songwriter, Warner Music Group. Cut tracks. The label chapter ended. He kept writing — including Lonely Bed. Barbara Orbison later called: Roy had just finished Mystery Girl, planned to record more, and felt this one would fit. Roy never cut it. He passed December 6, 1988. Steven cut it on Dream & Believe.
