Press Kit · Steven Kent, Country Singer-Songwriter

Steven Kent found Elvis at seven, clicking through the television at his grandparents' house. He went into the kitchen and asked his mother if she had heard of someone named Elvis. She laughed and said yes. The next day she took him to the record store, and he bought two records.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Marin, Steven grew into a country baritone and a songwriter. He was an Elektra Records singer-songwriter in the early 1980s, then spent fifteen years on nightly western stages at Rawhide.

His album Dream & Believe was recorded at FunHouse Studio in Nashville, with seven of its ten songs his own and the Imperials singing on every song. Its first single, Would He Believe, was his first single as a singer-songwriter. Steven's music has also found listeners and fans all over the world in the USA, Netherlands, France, Spain, UK, and more. He lives in Healdsburg, California.

In 2002 after the 25th Candlelight Vigil, Steven returned to his motel room and wrote Would He Believe. The vigil was held during the 25th Anniversary Elvis Week. In 2012, at the 35th Elvis Week, he wrote it on the Wall at Graceland.

Steven wrote this song honoring Elvis' legacy, with Terry Blackwood as co-producer, featuring Terry Blackwood and Joe Moscheo of the Imperials. It is his first single as a singer-songwriter, and it sits on his new album, Dream & Believe, recorded at FunHouse Studio in Nashville, seven of its ten songs his own, with the Imperials singing on every song.

Dream & Believe: Ten songs, seven of them his own. We contacted Terry Blackwood of the Imperials, he agreed and organized the Imperials vocals, which both he and Joe Moscheo, along with newer Imperial members sang on all 10 Dream & Believe songs. Terry Blackwood organized the studio, including several band members who had played with Elvis. Recorded at FunHouse Studio in Nashville, the album was in the can, cut and mastered, within four days, which was rare, unheard of. They were magic tracks: no editing and no redos.
