Dream & Believe

He produced this one himself. Seven originals, his name as writer and publisher, and a baritone that already knew Elvis and Cash by handshake, not by costume.

In 2002, after the 25th anniversary Candlelight Vigil, Steven returned to his room and wrote “Would He Believe.” The Imperials sit on the vocal. In August and September 2012 it was #1 on Netherlands country radio — the song that still opens rooms for Elvis fans, and the one built for Elvis Week 2027.

“Lonely Bed” — Barbara Orbison, Roy’s wife, who handled most of his affairs, called: he had just finished Mystery Girl, he was planning to record more, and he felt Lonely Bed would fit well. After he came off tour he passed away, December 6, 1988.

He picked “By Day By Day” (Dennis Linde) because Elvis was booked to cut it in January 1977 for Moody Blue and missed the session. Steven put it on the debut to keep that line of the songbook alive.

This is the only physical CD available now. Jewel case, liner notes, the debut that started the house. The other four records are downloads — tracks are up.
