Would He Believe
Steven Kent. 4:25. Written in 2002 after the 25th anniversary Candlelight Vigil. The question every fan of the King still asks.
Steven Kent Barker · published by Steven Kent Music (BMI) · Dream & Believe · 2012 · #1 Netherlands country radio, August–September 2012
The story
As a teenager, Steven Kent shook Elvis’s hand backstage in Las Vegas. In 2002, after the 25th anniversary Candlelight Vigil, he returned to his room and wrote Would He Believe — a country song about the King, in his own voice. Not an impersonation. A fan who met the man, then put it on a record.
It was his first singer-songwriter single. Country radio in the Netherlands took it to #1 for August and September 2012. It still closes Act II of Cash & King — the show for rooms that love Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash without the costume.
Next: Elvis Week 2027. Fifty years, August 16, 2027. The song belongs in that week — fan groups, radio, and rooms holding Cash & King for the anniversary.
